Tour Description

This Boat & Bike tour is a full-day deep dive into Alleppey’s heartland—its villages, water channels, and quiet coast. We start with a scenic cycle ride from either Alleppey, Marari or Kumarakom, depending on your stay. Pedal past sleepy backwater lanes, stretches of Alleppey beach, and salt-washed coconut groves. You’ll stop at beautiful local shrines, thatched houses, and ferry points where villagers cross in dugout canoes.

By mid-morning, we park the cycles at a quiet backwater jetty and switch to kayaks. The paddling route takes you into the narrow canals of Nedumudy or Cheepunkal villages, where you float past children waving from school boats, country canoes loaded with coir or fish, and birds skimming over water lilies. Ducks paddle in lines. Locals tend to rice paddies and collect clams near the banks. You may even witness toddy tapping, clam harvesting, and floating spice boats in action.

You’ll paddle through rivers like Manimala or Pamba, with a scenic break on the lakefront or a small island.

Optional Add-on: Homely Cooking Class & Lunch

Want to deepen your local connection? Join a warm local host in their home for a traditional Kerala cooking class. Learn to prepare authentic fish or vegetarian dishes with coconut, curry leaves, and spice blends passed down through generations. Then sit down to enjoy what you’ve cooked on a banana leaf—with rice, appams, and dessert.
